Former Delaware County Commissioner James David Ward, 76, passed away Saturday morning February 28, 2015 at the Delaware Court Health Care Center.
He was born January 24, 1939 in Tacoma Park, Maryland to the late Verle Strong Ward and Marjorie (Bell) Ward.

Jim graduated from Olentangy High School and then served his country as a member of the United States Air Force for 4 years. He later retired after 25 years as a trooper with the State of Ohio Highway Patrol, serving in Toledo and Delaware. He also received the Trooper of the Year Award in 1973. He then continued to serve the Delaware County community as a commissioner for 12 years.

Jim was a member of the Delaware Bible Church, VFW Post #3297, and former Elks Lodge #76, all of Delaware.
